What comes in your mind when you hear the name of Spain?A country full of football enthusiasts with different artistic people? Or the streets performing Flamenco? Or the people wearing a Salvador Dali mask, red jumpsuit and singing Bella Ciao?

No. Spain is not only about these things. Spain is indeed a wonderful country that has so much more to offer its tourists. It is located in the Southwestern Europe, and it occupies about 80-85% of the Iberian Peninsula which it shares with Portugal. Its national symbolic flag is called the “Rojigualda” in Spanish.

Spain is famous for its easy-going culture, delicious food, festivals & vast history. Spanish men and women generally have a more “European” taste for fashion and comfort is often of lesser importance. In the warm spring and summer months, Spanish women wear light cotton pants, skirts and dresses (of many styles and lengths) with sandals, formal shoes or fashionable sneakers.

Cities such as Madrid, Barcelona, and Valencia offer unique traditions, different languages, and must-see sites. A good place to start exploring in Spain is its capital Madrid. If you are an architecture lover you must pay a visit to Barcelona to see beautiful works of Antonio Gaudi.

Madrid is one of the most underrated and understated capitals of Europe, although it is actually the third largest city in the European Union. It is located right at the heart of the country. It is known for its historical buildings, food markets, royals, sunny blue skies, contemporary art museums etc. There are some famous places where not only the Spaniards visit, rather tourists are also crazy about which are; Puerta de Sol, Plaza Mayor, Royal Palace of Madrid, Museo del Prado, Museo Reina Sofia, Puerto de Alcala etc.

There are a few cultural celebrations throughout the country that are worth attending while you’re in Spain. Festivals like” La Fallas” and “La Tomatina” draws a large crowd of both citizens of Spain and the tourists from around the world. The bullfighting has been a well-known event in Spain (Corrida de Toros) since the Roman Era, and its popularity has extended beyond Europe and to Latin America. A religious festival “La Semana Santa” (Holy Week) is quite a huge celebration in Spain. It commemorates the Passion of Christ in the Catholic tradition the week before Easter. “La Tomatina” is a festival that is held in the Valencian town of Buñol, where people get involved in a tomato fight purely for entertainment purposes and the reason for this particular festival is to honor Bunol’s patron saint San Luis Bertran and also the Virgin Mary (Tomatina).

There are a wide range of famous dishes that people prefer but the most loved are PAELLA – Spanish rice dish with chicken and vegetables, GAZPACHO – Spanish tomato soup, TORTILLA ESPAÑOLA – Spanish Omelet, GARBANZOS CON ESPINACAS – Spanish spinach with Chickpeas, CHURROS CON CHOCOLATE CALIENTE– Spanish fried-dough pastry with chocolate etc. Moreover, there are some most popular drinks in Spain such as Sangria, Mojito, Tinto de Verano, Cerveza etc.

Football is Spain’s national sport. The Spain’s national football team represents Spain in international men’s football competitions since 1920. It is governed by the Royal Spanish Football Federation. Almost every town has a football field because of the population’s love for the sport. Any discussion about football is incomplete without talking about Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. Both of have been a great asset for Spanish Football.

Spanish is the third most studied and fourth most spoken language in the world. Spanish is top five business languages in the global market. 21 countries in the world speak Spanish.

Particularly in countries such as Mexico, America, Spain, Colombia, Argentina, Venezuela, Peru, Chile, Ecuador, Guatemala etc. By learning Spanish, you’ll be better able to communicate with Spanish speakers. Latin American countries are our most important trading partners. Being able to speak Spanish greatly enhances your knowledge and personality. It is one of the most commonly spoken languages in the world.

The Spanish language has a list of advantages. It enhances one’s travel experiences. Once you know the language well, you have the opportunity to study or work abroad. It also expands your entertainment options as you will be able to comprehend variety of shows and movies in Spanish. You will be familiar with the culture and history of Spain & Latin America. The demand for foreign language is increasing each day and Spanish being the most popular has its benefits. In addition to these it is indeed easier to learn and communicate building your confidence in a language which is not your mother tongue.

Spain has many talented actors residing within. A few suggestions are- Penelope Cruz in one of her finest moments in VOLVER, or ABRE LOS OJOS for some original content which was later made into a Hollywood film as VANILLA SKY. Javier Bardem is one of the most famous and Oscar award winning actor from Spain. It comes as no surprise that Spanish cinema has been a popular art form for many years. Moreover, if you are a Netflix lover, then you can indulge yourself into some more content available on OTT platforms, most amazing web series such as “La Casa De Papel” (Money Heist) & “Narcos”. These series have gained worldwide popularity since its release. It will eventually improve the pronunciation and fluency of the language with regular practice.
